Job in Pakistan Zong (Executive IT - DBA)

Job Purpose:

The candidate will be responsible for 24X7 operations of an Oracle database environment, supporting business critical applications. He/she will be a senior technician and adviser to line and project teams in database administration, service improvements, architecture, as well as design and implement best-practice maintenance work.

Job Responsibilities:

·         Migrate, upgrade, install, administrate Oracle databases & MySQL

·         Ability to manage database maintenance and plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checks, etc.

·         Able to monitor and ensure error-free services from Oracle Database

·         Ability to analyze traces, debug stored procedures, triggers and packages

·         Hands on experience with handling complex databases on different types of OS (Linux, Solaris, Windows)

·         Able to diagnose performance issues and help to troubleshoot them

·         Assist developers, operations team and data warehouse team in day to day operational support

·         Carry out database life-cycle management, archiving and compression techniques

·         Clear understanding of Database Architecture, Operating Systems, Client/Server Architecture, Middleware and Hardware (Servers, SAN, Network)

·         Performing physical and logical Backups

·         Experience in RMAN Backups, restore & recovery scripting, monitoring and performance tuning

·         Plan for system growth and monitor capacity usage for new hardware or software requirements and communicate these capacity requirements to management

·         Oracle RAC 10g/11g deployment with ASM/Raw devices

·         Regular Security patching on oracle products and interim patching for various bug fixes on database products

·         Implementation of best practices for database security policies, naming conventions and backups

·         Experience in planning, upgrading and migrating huge databases

·         In depth knowledge of Replication technologies and data warehouse standards Dataguard etc.

·         Working experience on various database features and technologies to improve efficiency and performance

·         Exposure to vendor management

·         Knowledge of backups on TAPES/Disks using VERITAS Netbackup or etc.

Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):

Education:

·         4 years bachelors degree, preferably in Information Technology and/or Telecommunications

Work Experience:

·         4+ years of experience as Oracle DBA Oracle11g/12c RAC & MySQL databases in a large-scale Unix and Linux environment

Skills - Job Specific:

·         Knowledge of Oracle & MySql standalone / Cluster (Good)

·         Knowledge of basic Linux/Solaris administrative commands (Good)

·         Knowledge of Oracle 11g Enterprise Grid tool (Good)

·         Knowledge of Performance Tuning (Good)

·         Knowledge of VERITAS Netbackup (Average)

·         Knowledge of Dataguard

Special Requirement:

·         Oracle certified professional
